More than 700 business people from across the Southeast gravitated to Winston-Salem for Biotech 2008, the largest industry conference in the region. The 17th annual event, hosted by CED, included presentations by thought-leaders, entrepreneurs, corporate executives, investors and researchers from the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and life sciences.

To mark the 25th anniversary of CED's Venture Conference, this year's conference included more than 55 presenting companies, at all stages, in today's hottest venture-backed sectors including medical devices, telecom, alternative energies and more. The presenting companies joined us from ten states - from Maryland to central Florida and from Kentucky to North Carolina.  

In addition to top companies, CED's Venture Conference featured remarks from Quintiles Transnational Corporation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Dennis Gillings and President of the National Venture Capital Association, Mark Heesen. Also featured in the lineup was a panel discussion with nationally renowned experts, including Barnes Hauptfuhrer, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Chapter IV Investors, LLC; James Mason, Co-Founder & Managing Partner of Parish Capital Advisors, LLP; Sallie Shuping Russell, Managing Director of BAA at BlackRock, Inc.; and Mark Yusko, Co-Founder, President and Chief Investment Officer at Morgan Creek Capital Management, LLC.





Tech 2006, the Council for Entrepreneurial Development's (CED) 16th technology industry conference.  Tech 2006 was created with companies of every size and stage in mind. The diverse program content delivered valuable insight into the current market, university research developments and high-tech corporate business advances. To begin the day, David Bonderman, Founder of Texas Pacific Group, discussed global equity investment trends. During the first morning session, iRobot CEO Colin Angle shed light on building successful technology-based products for commercial and consumer markets. At lunch, Marc Lautenbach, General Manager, Americas for IBM, and Jim Steele, President of Salesforce.com, combined for unique dual keynote remarks. In addition, there were several featured panels throughout the day that addressed emerging themes in technology that affect the way we all live.
